Jericho is on the West Bank near the Jordan River in the Palestinian Territory. Jericho has a current population of about 20,000. Jericho sits about 800 feet below sea level, and it is the lowest and oldest constantly inhabited city on Earth. It is believed that the first settlement of people to move into Jericho occurred in about 9,000 BC (11,000 years ago). It is believed that the city of Jericho has been inhabited ever since then. The Old Testament called Jericho “The City Of Palm Trees.”
